BCB News — 2020-01

Hello and Happy 2020 to everyone out there! Jumping back in the saddle after a few months away from the stage, and starting things off with a handful of shows at McMenamin's venues around the northwest. The latest news is that we have added singer Angela Baldino to our trio lineup (BC3). We have been rehearsing with her the past month to get her up to speed and she is amazing. I am excited for you to see her sing with us!

New 2019 Shows!

Happy 2019 everyone! Just added a bunch of new shows to the 2019 schedule. Still going strong with the trio gigs, but also added several full band shows. check out the “shows” tab for dates. Bass guitarist Sean Hudson will be joining BCB for shows this spring. This guys is an awesome player and human, and I am excited about having him on board! The rest of the band remains the same - Jeff Koch on lead guitar, Kat Cogswell on vocals, and Michael Jarmer on drums. See you all soon!

THANK YOU — Jimmy Mak's Show Best Yet!

Just a quick note of thanks to everyone who came to our Jimmy Mak's show this weekend. We had a terrific turnout which made releasing our new track, "New Wave," so much sweeter. Thanks to everyone who made off with a download card — make sure to play it loud.

Bigger thanks to Kelly Brightwell and The Beautiful Trainwrecks for all their work on this show. We couldn't have done it without them. Pick up their music on their websites — thanks for supporting great bands!

Interview: B Sides, Radio Play, and Immaterial Media

Check out this interview I did with Lily Clark that hit Marquix Global this week. We had a great conversation and I admit, I love this bit from the intro:

The notion of a 'B Side' lost its treasured perch in the vernacular of modern music with the advent of the CD, then quietly retired from consideration to become a sentimental cipher of times long past in the age of immaterial media. Now it's a term understood by comparatively ancient people (anyone over thirty) to talk about rituals of the physical world that could barely be comprehended by today's youth (save in the sense of a game cartridge or the like).

OK, so I don't yet consider myself ancient, but this certainly strikes a chord for me and captures the feel I had putting tracks together for The B SidesStill, as an artist, I have to admit I'm having a ball with immaterial media and the flexibility of releases that come with it. (By the way, if you haven't picked up Born, you should do that.)

So thanks, Lily, and thanks Marquix for picking it up and posting!

Hey all! Over the past month, I have been working on a group of new songs with engineer/producer Rob Stroup and it is sounding soooo good! Great performances from Anders Bergstrom on drums, Arcellus Sykes on bass, Wayne Thompson on keys and Bob Dunham on guitar. We are going to release this batch of songs one at a time as digital singles. The first of these is a tune called "Born" and we will release this at our next Portland show at Jimmy Mak's on Friday June 6. The song will be available on itunes, but it you come to the show, you will get a free copy!  So set aside June 6 on your calendars - it is going to be a big one!

BCB Update

Hey everyone! Sorry I have been so out of touch lately. I have been taking a much-needed break from live shows for the past 6 months to spend more time with my awesome one-year old baby boy and write some new music. I have been working with Rob Stroup Productions on some new tunes that I am excited to share with you all soon! I am also excited to get back on the stage again. We have some great shows coming up this spring, starting with Thurs May 8 at McMenamin’s St Francis School in Bend and Friday June 6 at Jimmy Mak’s with Michele Van Kleef.
