Wed June 23 Papa Toby's Revolution Cafe 3248 22nd St, San Francisco, CA WOW - our first time playing in the Bay area! Papa Toby's is a very cool acoustic/art venue in the Mission district. We were booked with Sara Shansky, a singer-songwriter living in the Bay area. I found out later that Sara used to live in our own Portland, OR! As we were setting up our gear, two other musicians (Seth and Carvelle) showed up and said THEY had been booked for the night. And to top it off, the booking agent was not there that night to confirm anything...Hmmm...Of course, none of this phased Jon or I, since we are oh so mature and, after all, this is the music industry and stuff like this happens all the time. Anyway, the fact that we were double-booked (quadruple booked?) ended up being somewhat of a blessing, since we met and shared the stage with three other very talented musicians. We met a lot of fantastic people at the show and the staff was great - thanks Brian and company for the hospitality (and what a great name too)! As for our performance, Jon and I played very well - things are feeling more natural each time we play acoustically. The energy was high, which may have had something to do with the fact we were in the middle of the Mission District in San Francisco! Looking forward to coming back soon-

Sat Apr 9th, 2004 Forest Grove, OR -- McMenamins Grand Lodge What I love about McMenamins: the staff is always friendly, the beer is always cold, and the patrons are relaxed and happy. There seemed to be a lot of visiting families in the crowd, grandparents and small children. I think if I were under the age of six the artwork would give me nightmares, but as an adult it’s much less creepy, especially after a pint or two. Anyway I’m supposed to be writing about the gig so here it is. I believe this was one the best shows Brian and I have played as a duo. Our balance was good, the energy in the room was alert and interested, and there were few mistakes from the stage. During the second set we got a request for something un-plugged & unmic’d -- what followed was one the best renditions of Stevie Nicks’ Landslide I’ve heard. It was a departure from what Brian and I usually do at duo shows which is electric, funky, and plugged. Being taken out of our comfort zone was a good growing experience for us. I look forward to more shows like this one.

Fri Mar 12, 2004 Hood River, OR - Savino's Lounge After a bit of a rocky start with the sound system...we rocked three solid sets to a great crowd! Thanks to all of you who came out and saw our first full band show in Hood River. After Jon Taubman and I performed as a duo here over the winter, we werent sure we would be able to fit the whole band on the stage! So we had to conserve on space (thank God Wayne plays with a compact drum set) and there ended up being plenty of room - funny how things always seem to work out. Really, we love playing this venue and are looking forward to coming back - Elizabeth and company were great hosts as always, and we got to hang out with lots of great people. We finally got to meet members of Hood River's own Blue Trick (thanks Micheal for your help with the sound system!). Look for Jon and I to come back in May for an acoustic performance, with the full band back to rock this summer. We are looking forward to hanging out in "the Hood" again!
